What are the Beads of Courage ?
Each time a child undergoes treatment they receive a bead. There are beads for everything from chemotherapy to hair-loss and blood transfusions. The Bravery Beads initiative uses different coloured beads to visually acknowledge the courage of children with cancer as they undergo often painful and distressing procedures and treatments.
The idea behind this is at the completion of their treatment the child leaves hospital with a unique collection of beads representing their journey and the courage they have displayed throughout their experience.
