A sharp reduction in mortgage rates drove a record improvement in housing affordability in November to its best level in 3 and a half years, the Wizard Home Loans Affordability report shows.
November 2008 - Holiday Homes in hot demand
Kindly donated and maintained by the Professionals Real Estate group, the Child Cancer Foundation's Sunshine Lodge holiday homes are free of charge to children with cancer and their families. The homes are full-furnished and equipped, meaning that families going through the rigmarole of caring for a child with cancer can take some time out to be together and rejuvenate.
October 2008 - More Kiwis to benefit from warmer, drier homes
Middle-income Kiwi homeowners can now get more money from the government to help them invest in warmer, drier, more energy efficient homes, and more New Zealand householders are now eligible to receive this funding.
Greater numbers of investors have been hunting property bargains as real estate prices stabilise and the number of days houses spend on the market drop. Several real estate agents around the country who specialise in the investor market have noticed more enquiries and a steady number of sales.

In Wellington, John Ross of The Professionals Hutt City tells of one landlord who needed cash for his daily business and decided to sell all 17 of his rental properties over the last few weeks. The rental properties were lapped up by keen investor buyers for good prices.
“Because prices have dropped back by 20% and the rental returns were good, they were very attractive. The reason they’re buying is because the rental income versus prices they are paying can now be justified again.”
October 2008 - Child Cancer survivor loses brother
Two year old Tomas Hourigan from Carterton died after choking on a meat pattie at a church barbecue last Sunday. Tomas was the brother of Connor Hourgian who was the public face of Child Cancer in 2006. Read Article

September 2008 - Real Estate Bill passed into Law
The very antiquated existing Act of 1976 has finally been overhauled. "The new Act is welcomed by Professionals Real Estate Group", says it's Chairman Andrew Mark.
"Many of the changes reflect practices that our members had already adopted in the interests of best practice and consumer service and protection. For most of us it will be business as usual and our clients will not be disrupted or inconvenienced by unnecessary change in how real estate is transacted."
June 2008 - Professionals offices around the country raised $248,000 in their 2008 annual appeal which will go towards supporting the Child Cancer Foundation.
April 2008 - Three staff from Professionals (Winkel Real Estate Ltd) and one from 90% Property Shop in Wellington walked 100km during the weekend of 5th & 6th April to raise money for Oxfam. The Oxfam Trailwalker is a fundraiser which requires teams of four members to walk (or run) a 100km cross-country course in 36 hours near Lake Taupo. View the Oxfam Trailwalker website.
April 2008 - Children with cancer will get treatment closer to home after Wellington Hospital hired two specialists from Germany to boost its ailing service. The board announced it had recruited two paediatric oncologists - Christian Kratz and Mwe Mwe Chao - from Germany, who are expected to start work in October.
Child Cancer Foundation spokesman John Robson said the need to travel to Auckland or Christchurch had placed added pressure on families and stretched the foundation's resources.
March 2008 - James Verry of Professionals Lovegrove Realty Ltd has raised $1,995.80 for the Child Cancer Foundation while attempting to set a world record for running the world's longest open home.
December 2007 - Christmas Lights Spectacular gets underway with a major prize of a $2,000 light pack prize supplied by Flexilight Ltd for the winning display. Also spot prizes of $1000 and $500 light packs also from Flexilight Ltd.
November 2007 - Professionals Real Estate Group has been named as a finalist in this year's TVNZ and New Zealand Herald Sponsorship Awards for their support of the Child Cancer Foundation, a cause which has been supported since 1995.

Playcentre's "Swing into Spring" sunflowers
A local playcentre in Kerikeri has been growing sunflowers from seeds provided by their local Professionals office, Bay of Islands Realty Ltd.
Lanark House Childcare have had a chart on the wall since they received the sunflower seeds from the "Swing into Spring" promotion and they have documented the growth of the flowers from when they were planted through until they were fully grown.
August 2007 - Our mid-winter Charity Auction raises over $10,000 towards the Child Cancer Foundation.
August 2007 - Professionals wins Social Hero Award for Youth Partnership from the Robin Hood Foundation recognising a 12-year partnership with the Child Cancer Foundation.
June 2007 - Professionals raises $303,710 for the Child Cancer Foundation during their appeal week; just part of the ongoing committment since 1995. Where does the money go?
February 2007 - The annual Child Cancer Appeal is due for 19th-25th March. Professionals offices will be collecting on Friday 23rd.
