It is located on the South Taranaki Bight at the mouth of the Manawatu River, 35 kilometers Southwest of Palmerston North and 6 kilometers west of Foxton township. Foxton Beach has a permanent population of around 1800 people. The town is a popular holiday destination due mainly to its beach, good fishing and the bird sanctuary in the Manawatu estuary.
Foxton Beach offers the Manawatu Marine Boating Club/Restaurant which holds several annual fishing competitions with an easy access boat launching ramp, estuary walk ways through local bird sanctuary, 2 excellent camping grounds, popular Café/ Restaurant and well patrolled beach serviced by the Foxton Beach Surf Life Saving Club and regularly patrolled by beach wardens for you and your families safety.
